Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Cannabaceae.  The cannabis plant is made up of leaves, flowers, and stalks.  When people think of Cannabis, they often think of Marijuana, however Cannabis can also be grown as industrial hemp, having many health benefits while having no psychoactive effects (no getting high).

Cannabis can be either Hemp or Marijuana, so Hemp is a type of Cannabis.  Hemp contains high amounts of CBD, while marijuana contains high amounts of THC.  Hemp is the non-psychoactive, fiber part of the plant containing .3% or less THC.

While Marijuana and Hemp are part the same species (Cannabis), they both contain cannabinoids that have different functions.  Marijuana contains higher amounts of THC, and is what people consume to get high, but also contains other cannabinoids with health benefits.  Hemp does not contain enough THC to get people high.  Hemp is grown for its high CBD content, as well as other cannabinoids with health benefits.  Hemp is also grown for industrial purposes such as clothing, rope, bricks, oils and more.

CBD is a cannabinoid found in both marijuana and hemp but does not contain euphoric properties.  CBD has many documented and researched health benefits.

CBD contains organic properties that naturally interact with your body’s receptors that have shown to regulate appetite, moods, anxiety, sleep, help alleviate symptoms from physiological discomfort, and much more.

CBD is produced from flowers, leaves, and stalks of the cannabis plant; while hemp oil is produced from the seeds of the hemp plant.  Hemp oil is sold without CBD or other cannabinoids.  CBD oil will contain high amounts of CBD (as labelled).  If the oil is labelled as “full spectrum oil” the cannabinoid CBD will be present in high amounts, along with trace amounts of other cannabinoids and terpenes (flavors), which all work together to create the amazing health benefits you have heard about.
